Frustrations

Chef has selected the two items from my menu that will be used for our master menu for the restaurant – a soup and panna cotta.  I can’t hide my disappointment.  Six week’s worth or menu planning and hundreds of dollars spent on ingredients for testing and he chooses a soup and panna cotta!  I tested and perfected every recipe.  No one else in class put the same amount of effort in their final product – some stole recipes from the internet, others used a family recipe, and still others faked it and didn’t even try them out.   Who is going to order soup in the middle of summer?  Who is going to order panna cotta when one of the other dessert items is a Belgian waffle banana split with Nutella?  How can I compete with Nutella?
