In the kitchen, I lose myself. At the desk, I find myself—piece by piece.
Each practice feeds a different hunger: one for comfort, one for understanding.
In the kitchen, I move with purpose, coaxing sugar and butter into brief, beautiful life. Baking is my art. My kitchen is my studio where I practice and play, assured in its rhythms. At its denouement, my art is devoured, without regret. My passion lies in the crafting, my delight in the sharing. My kitchen is bomb shelter and Band-Aid, my respite when I’m overwhelmed and my surefire reason for procrastination. It’s my voice, my meditation, my recreation, and only occasionally my vexation.
Writing is a slower alchemy. It asks me to sit, to hold still while the words take their time finding form. It’s an exorcism of sorts, more taxing and more necessary than I ever expected. It is also, at its best, its own kind of rescue. Writing grounds me, offering clarity and shaping the intangible into something I can hold up to the light.
This space is not a typical food blog. You won’t find long preambles about childhood trips to apple orchards before I share a pie recipe. What you will find is a mingling of what’s on my mind and what’s on my table—sometimes aligned, often not—and an honest attempt to share something lasting out of the ephemeral.
Two-Bit Tart is a candid record of my kitchen successes, my unfiltered musings, and my hard-won moments of clarity. It’s a chronicle of the days when baking saves me, and the days when it simply fills the house with warmth.

You can never have too much red wine, Kurt Vonnegut or Earl Gray Tea. (I draw the line at two cats, however.)
Had to do a double-take on seeing the title of your blog.
I think I like it.
I think I will mull it over.
Let it perculate, Incubate. Stimulate.
Ahh … so long as you are doing well. I know things get busy … just was checking. (And ohh…just 5 more months….and….cooking school!)
Love your style, always great read.
